The Claims Guide provides consumer information and introduces eligible visitors to BlueLion Law Limited, an SRA-regulated law firm. COMMON QUESTIONS

What people ask before starting

Do I need my original finance paperwork?

Not necessarily. You can begin even if you no longer have the agreement. Further information may be needed later.

What if I don't remember my lender?

You can still start. The information you do remember may help identify relevant agreements.

Can I check an agreement that's already been paid off?

Potentially, yes. An agreement having ended does not automatically prevent you from checking it.

What if I've had several cars on finance?

There may be more than one agreement to check. Choose the multiple-agreements option when you begin.

How much does the service cost?

Our Legal Partner BlueLion Law Limited works on a no win, no fee basis. You only pay its fees if your claim is successful and you comply with the terms of your agreement.

For a successful claim settled without litigation, the fee is up to 36% of the compensation recovered, including VAT. If a claim is settled through litigation, the maximum deduction is capped at 48% including VAT. BlueLion Law Limited would only pursue litigation where it believes that route could achieve a better outcome.

The exact terms, risks and potential costs will be explained before you instruct the firm. You can cancel without charge within 14 days of entering into the agreement.

Can I complain myself for free?

Yes. The FCA's motor-finance redress scheme is intended to give consumers a straightforward and free route to redress without using a claims management company or solicitor. The FCA estimates average redress of around £829 per eligible agreement.

Using BlueLion Law Limited is an alternative legal route. Its fees apply only if a claim succeeds and the agreement is followed. The firm may consider court proceedings if it believes they could achieve a better compensation outcome than the FCA scheme.

Can I change my mind after starting a claim?

Yes. You have 14 days to cancel after entering into the agreement. If you cancel after that period, you may be charged for work completed up to the point of cancellation, in line with your agreement.

What happens after I complete the eligibility check?

If your circumstances appear potentially eligible, you may be introduced to BlueLion Law Limited. The firm will explain what information is needed, the available route, its fees and the terms that apply before you decide whether to proceed.
